About Janis Greene, Founder and Editor
Thanks for visiting Mahogany City! My name is Janis Greene and I am the founder & editor for MahoganyCity.com. I am a full-time writer, mother and certified web chick. I live in the great state of Maryland, U.S.A. I’ve attended Bowie State University as well as University of Phoenix. Helping others is my passion.
Initially I started this website to share interesting articles, web links and resources I’ve found as I’ve searched the web - all pertaining to the Black Community. I quickly came to realize that many of the stories I’ve come across in my web travels aren’t stories found in main stream media outlets nor are they represented in popular black websites or blogs. As a result I’ve felt like there was there was something missing in the Black Web-o-sphere. Thus, Mahogany City was born.
My greatest hope in sharing this site and it’s many articles, stories and resources is that you are:
- Informed about news topics related to the black community, including stories not told in the “Mainstream Media”. Our news isn’t just shootings and murder and we care about more than just celebrities and gossip.
- Entertained and plugged in to the latest in black entertainment, viral videos and other media because it’s the 21st century, we are technologically savvy, we are on move and we deserve to hear about our news when it happens.
