Juanita Bynum on Divorce Court

Televangelist Juanita Bynum appeared last week in a 2-part episode of Divorce Court detailing her failed marriage to Bishop Thomas Weeks who was accused a few months ago of assaulting her in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel. Bynum who is a former hairdresser and flight attendant married Weeks in a televised million dollar ceremony.

In the interview Bynum spoke on the assault and her decision to move forward with the divorce. On the alleged abuse she said:

I was just trying to make it work because I don’t like losing relationships. All of this just kept getting swept under the rug … So you begin to adapt to a very wrong and very unhealthy marriage.

Bishop weeks pleaded guilty in March to assaulting Prophetess Bynum and was sentenced to three years probation, ordered to perform community service and must undergo counseling. For his part, weeks initially denied the abuse and had made his own televised statements a few months back in September. I wonder what caused the shift in his position?
